Just Dance/Gonna Be Alright

It was two weekends ago that I was dancing up a storm at the town hall social. This dance was in support of nurse’s week, and it was quite the party. A live band played classic rock, and in between sets a live DJ was mixing top 40 tunes. As you can see from the photo above, I had no other footwear but rubber boots. It was odd to think going to an event without my stilettos! Then again, no one wears stilettos here — there is no way you could walk on the dirt roads!

I’ll try to explain the event, but honestly, you had to be here to fully experience the awesomeness that is a town hall dance. There were rows of tables set up, and folks mostly sat drinking and talking. But when people get enough liquid courage in them, a lot of them are on the dance floor. The hospital crowd was there in full force, and it was really good to see everyone out — doctors, paramedics, lab technicians, administration etc.

What was even better was seeing my patients on the dance floor. I’m fairly sure I would never encounter that in Toronto. It’s a little strange, but everyone is here to enjoy each other’s company. And besides, it’s not like I don’t see my patients in other settings: grocery shopping or walking their dog!

Sorry for the short post, but I have work in the morning. I’ll post about my experience in the OR and the renal dialysis unit soon. So stay tuned!
